Phinehas Horton account books, 1802-1852.

This collection contains three volumes of account books, a daybook, and a wage book spanning the years from 1809-1852. Phinehas Horton kept two of these account books; the others were kept by Isaac Lyon and Abigail Oles and Daniel Horton. The wage book was kept by John Hoplar. Phinehas Horton was a general store owner, while Daniel Horton and Abigail Oles were farmers. They sold such goods as powder, shot, glass, sewing needles, salt, butter, calico, apples, hay, rye, corn, flour and buckwheat. Included in Daniel Horton's account book are entries for his duties as a Morris County constable and Justice of the Morris County Court of Small Causes as well as a list of marriages performed from 1802-1835.
